Infrared Solder Melting Furnace
What Is an Infrared Solder Melting Furnace?
An infrared solder melting furnace uses electric infrared heating elements around an insulated vessel to melt and hold solder or tin alloy at a controlled temperature. COOLDO configures the vessel, heating zones, agitation, discharge method and controls around the customer's material and production line.
How Does an Infrared Solder Melting Furnace Work?
Infrared heating zones transfer heat through the insulated vessel wall into the solder or tin alloy. Automatic zone control manages heat-up and holding temperature, while the agitator circulates the molten bath to support temperature and composition uniformity.
A complete installation can combine a welded-steel support structure, a project-matched stainless-steel vessel, an extraction hood and an independent control cabinet. A thickened 304 stainless-steel inner vessel can be specified after alloy and corrosion review.
Infrared Solder Melting Furnace Configurations
Open-tank, enclosed and production-line layouts are available according to capacity, exhaust, mixing and discharge requirements.

Confirm every value against the final COOLDO drawing. Usable capacity depends on alloy density, bath level, freeboard, agitation depth and production rate.
Designed for Controlled Solder and Tin-Alloy Processing
The main systems are selected together so heating, mixing, holding and downstream transfer work as one process.
Variable-Speed Mixing
Frequency-controlled agitation can be adjusted to the alloy, bath level and production stage.
Automatic Zone Control
Independent heating zones support controlled heat-up and stable holding temperature.
Project-Matched Vessel
Working volume, vessel material, wall thickness and freeboard are selected for the actual process.
Integrated Exhaust Hood
A defined duct connection helps the plant integrate correctly sized local fume extraction.
Independent Controls
Heating, agitation and temperature functions are organized for routine operation and maintenance.
Line Integration
Feeding, discharge and controls can connect with solder-bar casting, extrusion or wire production.
Materials and Production Lines
This furnace family is intended for compatible lower-temperature solder and tin-alloy processing.
Lead-Free Solder
Melting and mixing verified lead-free tin-based formulations.
Leaded Solder
Controlled processing with appropriate exposure control and exhaust design.
Tin Alloys
Preparation and holding within the confirmed operating-temperature range.
Solder Bar and Wire
Molten-alloy preparation for casting, extrusion, rolling and wire lines.
Infrared Solder Melting Process
Inspect and Load
Check the vessel, agitator, controls and exhaust, then charge clean, dry, verified material.
Heat
Raise the bath toward the verified process temperature under automatic zone control.
Mix
Adjust agitation to combine additions without unsafe splashing or excessive oxidation.
Hold and Transfer
Maintain the required bath condition and feed the approved downstream process.
Shut Down and Record
Follow the approved shutdown sequence and record batch, temperature and output data.
How to Specify the Right Infrared Solder Furnace
Choose from the real working requirement—not only the nominal tonnage.
- Alloy composition and target operating temperature
- Working inventory, batch cycle and hourly output
- Minimum bath level and safe mixing freeboard
- Feed form, discharge method and downstream equipment
- Voltage, frequency, exhaust and installation country
Infrared Solder Melting Furnace FAQs
What furnace capacities can COOLDO supply?
The reference series covers nominal capacities from 0.5 to 3 tons. Other working volumes and configurations can be evaluated from the material and required output.
Can the furnace process lead-free solder?
It can be configured for leaded solder, lead-free solder and compatible tin alloys after confirming composition, temperature, vessel material and contamination-control requirements.
Is this furnace suitable for steel or cast iron?
No. A solder melting furnace with a reference maximum temperature of 500°C is not a steel or cast-iron melting furnace.
Why is an agitator used?
Agitation helps distribute heat and alloy additions through the bath. Speed and immersion depth must match the process.
Does the furnace require plant exhaust?
The hood must connect to a correctly designed exhaust system. Required airflow and treatment depend on the alloy, flux, emissions and local rules.
